The Give Project – What Is It & How Does It Work?
Quite simply, The Give Project is about using social media to make a difference in the world. It’s about connecting people on an individual level and using those connections to fill practical needs. More than any of that though, it’s about creating an opportunity to give simply because it’s the right thing to do.
Using the vast number of connections social networking has created, voices of individuals and their needs can now reach countless listeners. With this new medium, it is possible to leverage these interactions to connect the “have’s” with the “have not’s.” That’s the name of the game, the question is will you play?
The Give Project’s Vision and Final Thoughts
The Give Project presents an avenue to use already available tools to create real social change. From the college kid looking to furnish his dorm, to the single parent struggling with the essentials, The Give Project strives to create a social responsibility network where practical needs are met and where “you” and “I” become “us.”
The success of this project lies squarely on the shoulders of its participants. Social networks are building roads into individuals lives that before, did not exist. Will we travel these roads responsibly and bring social change as we go?
Social Network = Social Good
Did you know that there are over 400 million people on Facebook alone? For perspective’s sake, the United States only has a population of 307 million. Social networking is here to stay, but it doesn’t have to stay in the box we’ve place it. 400 million people looking to the fill needs of their local communities? It’s a thought worth pursuing.

How did The Give Project get started?
The Give Project was started by an average college student looking to fill a need and find a purpose. He’s not quite sure if he’s there yet, but he sure has had a lot of fun along the way. If you’re interested, read the full story and get a taste of why this idea has no choice but to be tested and no outcome but to be realized.

Currently, you are visiting The Give Project Blog. The purpose of the blog is two fold. First, to help spread the idea behind The Give Project and second, to begin to build a free giving community before the actual website launches. The actual website will be launched at the end of July. It will be a listing based site where users can post free gifts and needs, easily connect with others users through already existing social networks, and facilitate both free giving and receiving within these networks. Click the image below for a sneak peak of the homepage design for www.TheGiveProject.com, the actual site.
